Search for speeding car leads to man with speed

A man held on Wednesday with 66 kilograms of amphetamine was lead in front of a Judge of Instruction on Friday. Marechaussee officers had arrested him while combing the area around the Belgian border for a suspicious car. The officers charged with mobile patrols of the area had set chase when the car drove by the Belgian border control post at Hazeldonk at high speed. They pulled back when the man started driving on the wrong side of the road, endangering other motorists in traffic, but continued to search the area in hopes of finding the car again. That’s when the officers noticed another car parked in a field in Rijsbergen, a town in the municipality of Zundert in north Brabant. As they approached the vehicle, the driver got out and walked toward them with his hands up. Upon searching the car the officers found the amphetamine, a powerful synthetic stimulant also known as speed. The 35-year-old man who hails from Zundert was immediately taken into custody. The speeding car was not seen again.
