Plasterk rejects 'Caribbean pass'

Minister Plasterk sees nothing in the plan of the VVD to introduce a modified passport for residents of Curaçao, Aruba, and St. Maarten, as suggested by MP Bosman today. It would still be a Dutch passport, but on the outside the origin of the bearer would be visible, according to Bosman. This would make it easier for municipalities to see whether additional licensing conditions are required. Ronald Plasterk / Wikipedia Plasterk stresses that we are one nation under one King, with one nationality, and bearers of one passport, and it's inappropriate to make distinctions. Most parties in parliament were less than enthusiastic about the proposal. The CDA even questioned whether to take the proposal seriously. D66 calls it inappropriate, and ChristenUnie thinks it undermines the equivalence in the kingdom.
