Major drug bust in Groningen, Drenthe

Dozens of agents participated in 15 raids in homes and business premises in Groningen and Drenthe, during a major drug bust, Tuesday morning and afternoon. One man was arrested in Emmen.The man of 34 is suspected of exporting large amounts of hemp to Germany. The police expect to make more arrests. In several places in the provinces cannabis plantations were discovered and dismantled this morning. The raids took place in Ulrum, Ter Apel, Stadskanaal, and especially Emmen. Smokers High Life (flickr) Police began a major investigation a few months ago, when they discovered a shipment of cannabis from the Netherlands to Germany. The investigation led up to the raids today. A man and a woman were already arrested in Germany recently, for doing business with the man from Emmen. So far a few thousand cannabis plants were found on the farms. Cars, caravans, hard drugs, and thousands of euro have been seized.
