PIP implants Compensation

Dutch women with breast implants from the French brand PIP, could be compensated. A French judge ruled Thursday around 1,600 women of different nationalities can receive 3,000 euros per person from TÜV Rheinland. That is the company that arranged for the implants to be approved for the European market. Silicone_gel-filled_breast_implants

The Dutch women were not involved in the lawsuit in France. Until late 2011 the PIP implants led to much unrest among women. They were afraid they would develop autoimmune or connective tissue diseases due to leakage in their implants. The manufacturer is bankrupt and can not be held responsible. Only two weeks ago the Health Care Inspectorate (IGZ) announced the PIP implants do not pose a health risk to carriers. The Inspectorate based the announcement on results of a study commissioned by the European Commission. The researchers did conclude, however, the risk of cracks and leaks is increased in the PIP implants.
