BAM en Van Oord Build New Container Terminal

Construction company BAM and dredging company Van Oord have been chosen for building a new container port in the British city of Liverpool. The deal is about more than 85 million euro. This was announced by the two companies on Wednesday. The new container terminal will be commissioned by Peel Ports and will be situated at the river mouth of the river Mersey. The transhipment harbor will be made suitable for vessels with a loading capacity of up to 13,500 pieces of 20-foot containers, of which two can berth at the same time. The new port will be ready for use in 2015. Van Oord is responsible for the dredging and excavation. BAM Nuttall, the British daughter of the construction group from Bunnik, is responsible for the design and construction of a quay wall of more than 850 meters long and the crane track. The builder also will take care for other parts of the infrastructure, such as the access road and fence.
