Netherlands Defeats Russia (5-1)

The Netherlands is now qualified for the semi-finals of the European Under-21 Championship following its win over Russia (5-1).

The Dutch representatives are tied with Spain on top of the Group B, after removing the Russian team from the tournament.

PSV Eindhoven midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum struck on the first half, opening the scoring six. The Russians tried their best to regain their momentum until Nikita Chicherin received a soft red card after the half time. This proved advantageous for Luuk de Jong who scored another goal for the Dutch.
