1,150 Unjustly Fined
1,150 drivers received a fine for speeding on the A2 between Amsterdam and Utrecht on the 31st of March. This was because the control system failed to switch to the new daylight saving time.
Between 7 and 8pm the system registered hundreds of drivers driving faster than 100 kilometers per hour, the permitted speed on that road during the day. After 7pm the allowable speed changes to 130 kilometers an hour, but at 7pm last Sunday the system thought it was only 6pm.
NOS.nl reported that the Central Justice debt collection bureau, Centraal Justitieel incasso Bureau, informed all people involved in writing that they did not have to pay the fine and that their money would be refunded if they had already paid.
