For over three hours on Monday, emergency number 1-1-2 was unreachable due to an outage at telecom company KPN. The cause of the outage is still under investigation, but it was definitely not a hack, according to Joost Farwerck of the KPN Board of Management. Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security summoned the company for an explanation on Tuesday, NOS reports.

Several websites were unreachable throughout Tuesday due to a fault at the hosting provider Prolocation. Unreachable websites include both the government's Dutch and English sites, Rijksoverheijd.nl and Government.nl, Dutch blog site GeenStijl.nl and telecommunication firm Telfort's site.

A malfunction with ING Bank's online system left customers in a lurch, unable to use internet banking services as well as transaction processor iDeal. First reports of the problem surfaced around 10:00 am as customers took to social media to complain of payment failures.

The Rabobank says that fitness centers in The Netherlands are looking at losses now that the consumer is more hesitant to spend money on luxury items. After years of explosive growth, half of the roughly 1,650 fitness centers in The Netherlands are in trouble, de Volkskrant reports.

The NS is hesitant about introducing the new high-speed trains, or 'flitstreinen' before 2021. In a letter to State Secretary Wilma Mansveld of Infrastructure, Timo Huges, NS-chief, writes that the new intercity trains will not be able to travel faster than 200 kilometers per hour.

1150 drivers received a fine for speeding on the A2 between Amsterdam and Utrecht on the 31st of March. The control system failed to switch to the new daylight saving time.
