Video: Man drowns while swimming at Oostkapelle beach

A man died after getting into trouble while swimming at Oostkapelle beach on Monday evening. Emergency services tried to resuscitate the victim at the scene, but it was to no avail.

The swimmer was reported missing at around 8:15 p.m. According to the local newspaper PZC, emergency services responded in large numbers. Several boats from the rescue brigade KNRM and the coast guard helicopter searched for the man.

They found him quickly and brought him ashore. The coast guard helicopter landed on the beach to drop off a nurse. They tried to save the man’s life, but it was to no avail.

The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. No details were released regarding the man’s identity.
