Man in Thuisbezorgd helmet suspected of string of Rotterdam robberies still on the run

A man wearing a Thuisbezorgd helmet attempted four robberies in the Rotterdam area within half an hour on Thursday evening. Police are actively and urgently looking for the suspect at this time.

The string of robberies occurred on Monday evening, roughly between 7:40 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. At 7:40 p.m., the man attempted to rob a supermarket on Jan Steenstraat in Rotterdam’s Overschie district. He reportedly threatened employees with a knife but left the store without any loot, Rijnmond reported.

This was followed by an attempt five minutes later at a snack bar on Burgemeester Baumannlaan in Overschie. As in the earlier incident, he left without any cash or items. Police have not yet said what caused the attempts to fail, such as whether he was forced to leave or whether staff refused to comply.

Roughly 20 minutes later, on Melanchtonweg in Schiebroek, the man attempted a third robbery at a petrol station. He again threatened staff with a knife but was once more forced to leave without taking anything.

At around 8:10 p.m. on Uitweg in the Kleiwegkwartier, the man carried out a fourth attempt at a petrol station. On this occasion, the robbery succeeded, and he escaped with a full cash register drawer.

The suspect was seen wearing a white Thuisbezorgd helmet and riding a black scooter fitted with an orange Thuisbezorgd delivery box on the back. He is described as having a light brown complexion, an average build, and an estimated age of 30 to 40. He is said to speak Dutch. At the time, he was dressed in a dark padded jacket, dark blue tracksuit pants, and gloves.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incidents. Following the alerts, police quickly set up a major search operation, which included the use of a police helicopter. The suspect remains on the run.

Police are urgently advising anyone who spots the suspect not to approach him under any circumstances, but to call 112 immediately.
