Imam wounded in stabbing near Maassluis mosque; Police investigate motive
An imam was slightly wounded in a stabbing near a mosque in Maassluis on Friday evening, suffering a cut behind his ear before being taken to a hospital, Dutch police said.
The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. near the Islamic Foundation Netherlands mosque, Yeni Cami Maassluis, NOS reports.
According to 112 photographers at the scene, the imam sustained a wound behind his ear and received treatment on site before being transported to a hospital for further care.
Police said the circumstances of the stabbing remain unclear. They stated they are not currently assuming a religious motive, though they are continuing to investigate all possibilities.
