Amsterdam festival canceled an hour before opening over allegedly unsafe tent structures
The Music On house festival, which was to be held this weekend at Meerpark in Oost, was canceled an hour before the start, the municipality of Amsterdam reported. The municipality stated that the Environmental Agency issued a negative safety advice regarding the tent structures.
The festival had been sold out for some time. The festival was scheduled to start at 12:00 PM at the park and to last two days. “This morning, the Municipality of Amsterdam revoked our permit for the festival. We had no other choice but to cancel the festival," the organization announced.
The organization is urging partygoers not to come to the festival grounds or to the sports park. "You will not be granted entry." LED boards have been placed in Watergraafsmeer, stating that the festival has been canceled.
"We are shocked and deeply disappointed by this outcome," the organization stated in a response. "We only received this news earlier today and are currently gathering more information."
The municipality called the last-minute cancellation unfortunate and said it is a disappointment for visitors and the organization.
