Fmr. ASML executive Martin van den Brink steps down from chip maker ASMI's board

Former ASML executive Martin van den Brink has stepped down as a Supervisory Board member at chip supplier ASMI with immediate effect. According to the Almere-based company, this step follows an “assessment that Mr. Van den Brink’s other professional activities could eventually lead to a conflict of interest.”

ASMI said that the decision about his departure was made by mutual agreement “to prevent such a situation or the appearance thereof in the future.”

It is unclear which other activities the company is referring to. The company was unavailable for comment on Monday.

Van der Brink previously played a key role in ASML as the chip machine manufacturer’s director of technology. In the past, he was also described as "Mr. ASML," or the technological brain of that Veldhoven-based company.

Van den Brink had been a Supervisory Board member at ASMI since May 2024. In a statement, the Supervisory Board chair, Pauline van der Meer Mohr, thanked him for his work for ASMI. She also said she regrets his departure.
