Amsterdam gets rid of more free parking; Only paid parking left in Zuidoost district
Amsterdam is implementing paid parking in more free parking areas today. In Gein, which was the last free parking area in the Zuidoost district, you now have to pay €1.72 per hour, AT5 reports.
Parking is free in most districts only after 7:00 p.m. and on Sundays. Residents in Gein have been able to apply for a parking permit since February.
In recent years, the city has also significantly expanded paid parking in the Nieuw-West and Noord districts. Noord also doesn’t have any free parking left.
Those who still want to park their car for free will have to head to Osdorp, Landelijk Noord, parts of the Westelijke Havengebied, Weesp, the Amsterdamse Bos, or a small section of Overamstel.
For Zuidoost parkers, the closest free parking is now in the village of Driemond. In Weesp, which covers Driemond, you only pay for parking in the city center.
