Van explodes in The Hague, damaging homes and cars

Early Sunday, a parked van exploded on Van Zeggelenlaan in The Hague, causing extensive damage to nearby homes and vehicles. The explosion, which occurred around 2:45 a.m. near the border of Laakkwartier and Spoorwijk, left the van completely destroyed and shattered windows across multiple buildings.

Photographs from the site show windows blown out on multiple floors of surrounding homes, while the van is completely burned and partially deformed.

Police received numerous calls from residents who heard or saw the powerful blast. Glass littered the street, and parts of the van were scattered across the area. Several cars in the street were also damaged. Authorities confirmed to Omroep West that no one was injured.

“The van has been seized for investigation,” a police spokesperson said. “At this stage, all scenarios are still open. It is not yet possible to say whether this was arson. We are asking witnesses to come forward.” Investigators from the Forensic Investigation Unit are examining the scene.
