Spijkenisse man accused of sextortion of 20 girls now linked to nearly 60 victims

The man who was accused of extorting 20 teenage girls with nude images has now been linked to nearly three times as many victims, prosecutors said during a short court hearing. Most of the victims are located in the United States and Canada, De Telegraaf reports. A psychiatric evaluation recommended that D. D. be sent immediately to a TBS clinic, a Dutch forensic treatment facility for offenders with mental health issues.

The 22-year-old, identified only as D. D., was arrested on January 6, 2025, by the Rotterdam sexual offenses unit after a large-scale investigation into sextortion, police reported at the time.

Sextortion is a crime in which perpetrators threaten to share sexual images of victims unless the victims provide money, additional sexual images, or sexual acts. From 2023 until his arrest, D. D. allegedly pressured girls, some as young as 14, to comply with these demands. Some victims were also coerced into providing small items such as deodorant or lip gloss.

During the previous hearing in July, AD's reporting focused on Dutch victims and noted that additional victims could be in the United States and Canada. Prosecutors have now said that the majority of victims are from the U.S. and Canada.
