Missing 75-year-old woman found dead near construction site in Numansdorp
A 75-year-old woman from Numansdorp who had been missing since Thursday afternoon has been found dead, police told Rijnmond. The body was discovered near a construction materials storage site along the Energieweg, close to an allotment garden complex.
Police said on X that a passerby found the body and alerted authorities. Officers confirmed the woman had been missing since Thursday evening and was believed to have left the care facility where she lived earlier that afternoon.
The search for the woman began Thursday afternoon and intensified overnight. Police deployed a helicopter, search dogs, and specialized Search-and-Rescue teams.
On Friday morning, about 100 people gathered at the care facility to search for her after her daughter issued a public call for help.
