SP leader criticizes GroenLinks-PvdA leader's plans to negotiate with minority cabinet

SP leader Jimmy Dijk sharply criticized GroenLinks-PvdA leader Jesse Klaver's outreach to the emerging minority coalition of D66, VVD, and CDA, calling it destructive rather than constructive.

Speaking to the SP party council on Saturday, Dijk dismissed Klaver’s plan as empty promises. Jetten and Klaver have previously promised "major progressive breakthroughs." However, he noted that cooperation with the VVD has never lived up to that promise. Dijk predicted that Klaver’s compromises would result in rent increases and billions in cuts to social security and healthcare.

Klaver, during a party meeting in Den Bosch, stated that he intends to finalize agreements with the minority cabinet currently forming before the summer.

He also expressed hopes for “progressive breakthroughs” and said he is "willing to make compromises," particularly on issues including nitrogen policy, affordable housing, and grocery costs.
