Natural ice opens for skating across multiple Dutch towns, including Doorn, Warmond

Skaters in several Dutch towns are able to enjoy natural ice on Sunday morning, as multiple outdoor rinks reported that conditions were suitable for skating.

The Doornsche IJsclub announced on Facebook that it had laid "a beautiful ice surface." The rink opened at 8 a.m., and the club shared photos of the first skaters taking to the ice.

In Kerkdriel, the outdoor rink confirmed on its website that it was open. Long-track skaters were welcome until 10 a.m., after which all visitors could skate.

The Warmondse IJs- en Skeelerclub reported that its natural ice would be ready for skaters from 10 a.m. onward. "Our ice preparers are working this morning until 9:30 a.m. to take full advantage of the morning frost and to add a few extra millimeters of natural ice," the club stated on its website.

Other towns where natural ice skating was possible on Sunday included Oosterbeek, Ammerstol, Noordlaren, Veenoord, and Zeist.
