Arrest made after woman found dead in Zaltbommel home, police say

A person was found dead in a home in Zaltbommel early Tuesday and a suspect was arrested, Politie Gelderland said on X, reporting both the discovery of the body and the arrest in the same overnight incident.

Police said officers were called to a residence on Wichard van Pondlaan around 1:15 a.m., where they found a deceased person. “Help, unfortunately, was no longer possible,” Politie Gelderland said, adding that one person was arrested and that investigators are examining the victim’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the death.

Emergency services had been dispatched to the address for a resuscitation attempt, but the victim had already died upon their arrival, according to local reporting. The street was cordoned off as police began their investigation.

Authorities have not released the identities of either the victim or the suspect. A police spokesperson said no statements could yet be made about the cause of death. Brabants Dagblad reported that the deceased was a woman and that a man was arrested. Those details have not been officially confirmed by police.
