Northern Lights again visible in Dutch skies tonight, if cloud cover allows

The Northern Lights put up quite the show in the Netherlands last night, and the internet is flooding with pictures of green and red ribbons in the night sky. They should be visible again tonight, if the cloud cover allows. According to Weeronline, the chance of clear skies is greatest in the east and southeast tonight.

🌌 Weergaloze verrassing afgelopen nacht!

The Northern Lights are caused by solar flares, and many of these flares have been directed towards Earth in recent days. It currently looks like the Northern Lights may also be visible in the Netherlands this evening and night, as long as cloud cover does not obstruct the sky.

According to Weeroline, some clouds will move over the country tonight, but there will also be clear spells. “The chance of fairly clear skies is the greatest in the east and southeast of the country,” the weather service said. “An added bonus: the night will be mild, with a minimum temperature of 8-11 degrees Celsius.”

From tomorrow, the chance of Northern Lights appearing in the Netherlands will decrease, and cloud cover will increase. “So anyone hoping to see the Northern Lights will have to seize their opportunity tonight.”
