Three dead bodies found in Alkmaar family home under mysterious circumstances

The dead bodies of three different people were found in a family home in Alkmaar on Wednesday morning. The bodies were discovered at a residence on Stikkelwaard, police confirmed. No details were released about the victims' identities in the immediate hours following the investigation, though neighbors told the Telegraaf that the residents are a "young" family, including a man, woman, and a boy of about 2 years of age.

Authorities have yet to rule out violent crime, an accident, or natural causes of death. Police said they were still attempting to contact surviving family members about the incident. The family received cleaning assistance from home care services, and the cleaner found the door closed earlier in the day, she told witnesses. This prompted her to call the police, the newspaper said.

Officers received a report regarding the residence in Alkmaar-Noord at around 11 a.m. Records show that firefighters were also dispatched to the street a few minutes later, in part to assist with road closures. A fire department supervisor also arrived on scene later in the morning, along with a team to assist first responders in dealing with the traumatic scene.

"They seemed normal. I always said 'hello,' and they said 'hello' back in a friendly way," one neighbor told the newspaper about the family living at the home. Investigators said they could not provide information about the possible relationship between the victims.

“Forensic Investigations personnel are now on site, and the investigation has just begun. At this time, no further information can be shared,” police said in an update. That said, detectives were still keeping all avenues open in the investigation, police said. Authorities pledged to provide more information as it develops.

With the lack of official details released to the public, many rumors began circulating online about the victims’ identities and their possible relationships, as well as the manner in which they died. A spokesperson has asked people to be cautious about sharing information. “We understand that there are questions,” police said.

For the time being, police indicated portions of the Huisbuurt neighborhood of Alkmaar-Noord would remain cordoned off.
