Minor arrested after firework blast damages Tilburg child center
Police arrested a minor Saturday after a firework explosion shattered a window of a child center on Piet Heinstraat in Tilburg. The blast occurred in the afternoon while children were playing outside nearby. According to Brabants Dagblad, no one was injured.
A neighborhood resident reported the incident around 4:30 p.m., telling police that he heard an explosion followed by the sound of glass breaking. When officers arrived, they found broken glass from the damaged window scattered across the street where children had been playing.
Police said the firework was not believed to have been deliberately set off at the child center, but the explosion caused significant damage. The incident raised concerns in the neighborhood because of the presence of children in the area at the time.
Officers reviewed security camera footage and spoke with witnesses. Based on that investigation, they quickly identified a possible suspect. The boy was located at his home and taken into custody. Police did not release his age, citing his status as a minor.
