Police chases in Tilburg, Roermond leave multiple injured, police car overturns

In Tilburg, a 30-year-old man from Eindhoven was arrested Saturday morning following a “life-threatening” chase through the city, Brabants Dagblad reported. During the response, an unmarked police car lost control and rolled over. The officer inside was taken to a hospital.

The suspect, driving a rental car, ignored a red traffic light, drove against traffic along the Ringbaan-Oost bike path, and reached speeds exceeding 100 kilometers per hour. Officers eventually boxed in the vehicle near the Lovense Kanaaldijk.

The Eindhoven man resisted arrest but was ultimately handcuffed and taken to a police station for further investigation. Authorities confirmed he was a known individual with the police, listed for an outstanding prison sentence, and had escaped from an institution.

In Roermond on Friday evening, a separate police chase ended in a collision on Kempweg, leaving three people injured, De Limburger reported. The pursuit began when a 25-year-old local man ignored a stop signal. Police said they fired a warning shot during the chase.

The suspect’s Volkswagen Golf, bearing German license plates, collided with another vehicle after a short but high-speed chase. The crash involved at least three vehicles, including a police car, all heavily damaged.

Witnesses reported that a cyclist and a fatbiker were also struck. Authorities confirmed three people were injured but did not provide details about their condition.
