Video: Body found after fire in Zeist home

Firefighters found a person dead after a large fire in a home on Amalia van Solmslaan in Zeist on Tuesday morning. The police are investigating the cause of the fire, as well as the victim’s identity and cause of death, RTV Utrecht reported.

The fire broke out at around 4:30 a.m. in the attic of a semi-detached home on Amalia van Solmslaan. The fire brigade responded with several firetrucks and fought the fire from outside, because the floors in the home were unsafe.

Firefighters discover the victim while searching the home. It was too late to provide help. They had already died.

The fire brigade managed to prevent the blaze from spreading to the neighbors’ home. The home did, however, suffer some smoke and possible water damage from the extinguishing work, a spokesperson for the local security office, Veiligheidsregio Utrecht, told the broadcaster.

The police are investigating the cause of the fire. They are also investigating the victim’s identity and the cause of their death.
