Mother holds foster agencies liable after Vlaardingen girl's severe abuse
The biological mother of the severely abused Vlaardingen foster girl has held the William Schrikker Foundation and the foster care organization Enver liable for depriving them of the opportunity to continue living as a family. That violated the right to family life, lawyer Frank Hamers confirmed after reports in De Telegraaf.
Both organizations were involved in the care of the child who was allegedly seriously abused by her foster parents. According to Hamers, the organizations have seriously failed and did not listen to the girl’s mother. “She was not heard.” He hopes that this step will result in “recognition for the mother. A claim for damages can then follow.”
The lawyer is taking this step on behalf of the girl’s mother and her half-sister. The half-sister was also allegedly abused in the same foster family.
Inspection services previously found that the aid provided by both organizations was inadequate for a long time, resulting in the Vlaardingen girl being left in an abusive situation.
Foster father Johnny van den B. and foster mother Daisy W. were arrested after their 10-year-old foster daughter was admitted to the hospital with severe injuries in May last year. She had brain damage and broken bones and was in a coma for months.
The couple has been charged with abuse of this girl and three other foster children. At the start of this year, they were admitted to the Pieter Baan Center for six weeks for psychological and psychiatric examination. The report is expected any time now.
