Man arrested in Amsterdam after sexually assaulting two women within minutes
A 26-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested Wednesday morning, May 21, after sexually assaulting two women within minutes of each other on Kinkerstraat in Amsterdam-West, police reported.
The first assault occurred just before 10 a.m. at the corner of Bilderdijkstraat and Kinkerstraat. The victim immediately called emergency services (112) and gave police a detailed description of her attacker. Minutes later, police were alerted to a second sexual assault nearby on Kinkerstraat, believed to involve the same suspect.
Officers responded quickly and conducted a search in the neighborhood based on the eyewitness description. They apprehended the suspect shortly afterward. The man is now in pretrial detention as sex crimes detectives continue their investigation.
A police spokesperson praised the quick actions of the first victim. “The first victim acted very adequately. Thanks to her clear description, officers were able to identify and arrest the suspect rapidly,” the spokesperson said. “We take these reports very seriously, so it definitely helps to contact the police immediately.” Both victims have filed formal reports against the suspect.
