Multiple people seriously injured in three-car crash on A67 near Grashoek
Several people were seriously injured early Sunday morning in a violent crash involving three cars on the A67 highway near Grashoek in the Dutch province of Limburg, according to Dutch news outlets RTL and NOS.
The crash caused major damage and left a number of vehicle occupants trapped inside their cars. Emergency services responded to the scene with extensive resources, including a trauma helicopter that was used to airlift some of the critically injured victims to nearby hospitals.
“The highway was temporarily closed in both directions,” police said in a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter. Traffic was halted to allow rescue operations to proceed and to give investigators access to the scene. The cause of the crash remains unknown and is under active investigation.
As of Sunday morning, authorities had not confirmed the total number of injured individuals. Images from the scene showed severe wreckage, including one vehicle flipped upside down. Police have not yet disclosed the specific conditions of the victims.
Police said they are continuing to examine all circumstances that may have led to the incident. No further updates on the number of victims or the cause had been released as of mid-morning.
In addition to the closure of the A67 itself, several related roadways were affected. Drivers heading toward Venlo were diverted via a detour at the Leenderheide interchange. Meanwhile, the exits for Liessel and Panningen were closed to support the emergency response and ongoing investigation. The A67 is a major highway connecting Eindhoven to the German border near Venlo, and is frequently used by commercial traffic and travelers crossing into Germany.
