Four injured, dog killed in three-vehicle crash on N34 near Annen
Four people were injured and a dog was killed in a serious traffic accident involving three vehicles Saturday afternoon on the N34 near Annen in the province of Drenthe, Hart van Nederland reports. Emergency services responded in large numbers to the scene of the collision, which occurred around 1:45 p.m.
According to authorities, the crash involved three vehicles, one of which was towing a trailer. The impact caused extensive damage, leaving debris scattered across the road.
Firefighting units from Annen and Gieten were dispatched, along with a specialized crane vehicle from Groningen. Five ambulances and a trauma helicopter were also deployed to assist.
All four injured individuals were rushed to the hospital. The severity of their injuries has not yet been made public. A dog involved in the crash did not survive.
Due to the scale of the emergency response, the N34 was closed in both directions to ensure safety during rescue operations. The road, also known as the “Hunebed Highway,” has a long-standing reputation for serious accidents, including several fatal incidents in the past.
