Dutch gambling authority took down 20 illegal gambling apps in three months

The Gambling Authority (KSA) has removed 20 apps from illegal gambling providers from app stores in the past three months. The KSA is monitoring these types of apps more intensively and reports that problems surrounding illegal gambling are becoming increasingly urgent.

The watchdog sees that more and more apps are referring users to illegal gambling sites. The KSA finds it particularly worrying that some websites are also accessible to minors.

According ot the supervisory authority, providers of illegal gambling often use “devious” techniques to convince consumers, for example, with logos of providers that do have a license. The KSA came across an app in the Apple App Store with the Holland Casino logo. Apps are also often advertised as a “normal game,” but after downloading, they’re linked to illegal gambling sites.

The KSA urged consumers to continue to report illegal gambling apps.
