Teen arrested after gunshot fired in Schiedam metro
Police arrested a 17-year-old from Rotterdam on Saturday evening in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in a metro at Schiedam Centrum station on Friday afternoon, AD reports. Authorities suspect that at least one person was injured, though it remains unclear whether the injury was caused by the gunshot.
The incident took place shortly before 3 p.m. on Friday. Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot from within a metro carriage and immediately called emergency services. Responding officers secured the station and initiated an investigation, which confirmed that a shot had been fired inside the train.
Despite a thorough search, neither a suspect nor a victim was found at the scene. Police collected surveillance footage and interviewed multiple witnesses, leading to the arrest of the 17-year-old suspect the following day.
Investigators believe at least one individual was injured during the incident but have not yet identified a victim. Authorities urge anyone who may have been hurt or has relevant information to come forward.
