Re-sale of tickets for Festival der Liebe in Ahoy double after report of ISIS threat

The number of tickets being offered on the resale site Ticketswap for the Festival der Liebe in the Ahoy has risen by 50 percent after the news that the concert may be the target of a terrorist attack. Around 200 tickets were being offered on the site on Tuesday night, with 100 tickets being added by Thursday morning. The number of tickets sold has also hardly increased.

German media outlets reported on Tuesday that a plan for a possible terrorist attack was announced on the German website of the Islamic State (ISIS). The National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV) said on Wednesday that they are aware of the report that the Festival der Liebe is a possible target. Other targets included the Carnival celebrations in Cologne and Nuremberg.

A spokesperson said that the threat level in the Netherlands is still at the second highest level, meaning that there is a realistic chance that a terrorist attack will occur.

Ahoy and the municipality of Rotterdam have been in contact with the police about the possible threat, they said. The Festival der Liebe will be presented by Chantal Janzen en Jan Smit. Janzen said on Wednesday that she is taking the threat “very seriously.”
