Terrorist attack planned for festival at Ahoy Rotterdam: German media

Radicalized Muslims are targeting the Festival de Liebe at Ahoy Rotterdam in early March. This is reported by the German newspaper Bild based on a German-language website that is said to belong to the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS). Carnival celebrations in Cologne and Nuremberg are also mentioned as targets.

According to the Cologne police, this type of expression is also intended to sow unrest among the population. Police deployment during carnival will be further tightened. The police in Nuremberg said they are unaware of any specific attack plans or threats. The police in Rotterdam and Ahoy are also unaware of specific threats.

The text on the site calls for choosing a “next target,” along with photos of a knife, a gun, and a few bullets. On the Al Saif Media website, ISIS recently urged supporters to run people over. There was a similar attack in Munich recently, in which a woman and her child were killed.

Chantal Janzen and Jan Smit present the Festival der Liebe. Janzen’s management was unavailable for comment on Tuesday evening. Volendam Music, Smit’s management, announced that Ahoy had been contacted about the reports in the German media.
