Dutch F-35s deployed over Polish airspace during Russian attack on Ukraine

Two Dutch F-35 fighter jets were deployed to protect Polish airspace during a major Russian attack on Ukraine with drones and missiles early Tuesday morning, the Ministry of Defense confirmed to the Leeuwarder Courant.

Russia reportedly fired 213 drones and seven missiles on Ukraine during the early morning hours, setting off air raid sirens throughout the country. Ukraine reported that its army shot down 133 drones and six missiles and that 79 drones failed to reach their target. So far, one injury was reported - a 44-year-old woman in Kyiv was injured in her leg.

The Dutch fighter jets were deployed during this attack to monitor and protect the airspace in the neighboring country Poland, a member of NATO. The Polish Air Force said on X that its airspace was not violated during the attack, but it continues to monitor the situation closely.
