Albert Heijn once again selling blueberries after former batch contained hepatitis A

Albert Heijn is once again selling bags of store-brand frozen blueberries. This was confirmed by a spokesperson of the supermarket chain after a report from Distrifood. Albert Heijn stopped sales of the blueberries last month after they were contaminated with hepatitis A.

The infected bags had come from Poland. The kilo bags of blueberries that are currently in Albert Heijn stores are from Peru, a photo made by Distrifood showed. The spokesperson would not confirm this detail. Packages that contain various types of fruit could still have the blueberries from Poland.

Albert Heijn ordered a recall of all the blueberries on January 13 after it had been reported that dozens of people had become ill after eating the blueberries and that the supermarket chain had received “several damage reports,” with some people having to go to the hospital.

NU.nl has reported that Albert Heijn has now created a special team meant to deal with the damage compensation claims of people who had fallen ill as a result of the blueberries.
