Dutch director Nina Gantz wins BAFTA with animated short Wander to Wonder

The animated film Wander to Wonder by Dutch director Nina Gants was awarded a BAFTA Award on Sunday. The film, which is also in the running for an Oscar, won in the category of best short animation during the presentation of the biggest British film awards.

Wander to Wonder, a stop-motion film, is about three stars from a children’s television series from the eighties who are left alone in the studio after the creator of the show dies. While the three fight against hunger and grief, they struggle on and make increasingly strange episodes for their fans.

The film had its world premiere in Venice and has already won several awards, including a Golden Calf and a British Independent Film Award.

In early March, Wander to Wonder will be one of the contenders for an Oscar, also in the category of best short animation film.
