Security company linked to drug investigation faces growing scrutiny from municipalities

The municipality of Bergen in Limburg received prior complaints regarding street coaches it hired through Secutor Security, a company now under investigation for involvement in money laundering and drug trafficking.

This week, a large-scale police operation targeted Secutor Security, leading to the arrest of six individuals and the search of 29 properties across Brabant, Gelderland, and Limburg. Among those arrested was the owner of the security company, which had contracts with several municipalities.

The municipality of Bergen confirmed that the police in Limburg and Noord-Brabant collaborated in the raid on Secutor Security on Wednesday. According to local news outlet De Limburger, authorities have long suspected that some of the street coaches employed by the company were involved in the alleged drug trade tied to the company's owner.

In response to the ongoing investigation, numerous municipalities have announced they are halting cooperation with Secutor Security. Affected municipalities span across Limburg, Brabant, Gelderland, and Noord-Holland.

The city of Maastricht revealed that street coaches supplied by Secutor participated in the Magisch Maastricht winter event in December, where they worked in coordination with police, enforcement agencies, and youth services. The program, which was initially intended as a trial, was meant to prepare for further collaboration but has now been canceled due to the ongoing investigation.
