Transavia will use more planes in 2025 to prevent capacity issues

Transavia is planning on using two extra reserve planes to prevent capacity problems this year. The full flight schedule of the airline will also be made available at a later stage than usual to ensure that all the scheduled flights can proceed as planned. This was said by the company’s CEO, Marcel de Nooijer, in a conversation with ANP.

Transavia was forced to cancel an unknown number of flights due to maintenance delays and technical issues last year. This led to an insufficient number of planes being available in the spring and impacted the travel plans of thousands of people.

In 2025, Transavia will have five to six reserve planes available, compared to three or four last year and one in 2019. “This is a lot more and that is necessary because of the insecurity in the delivery of parts. That is still an issue.”

To be on the safe side, the company only released the full flight schedule for 2025 at the end of last month, somewhat later than normal. "We really wanted to make sure that we are well-equipped in all our resources so that we do not have to intervene at a later time like last year. In this way, we can offer stability, and we assume that we will have a good summer," De Nooijer said during the New Year's reception of the travel industry association ANVR.
