Three accused of dressing up as cops to rob tourists at Amsterdam rail station
Three men are accused of dressing up as police officers and robbing multiple tourists at the Sloterdijk station in Amsterdam. They allegedly stole over 11,000 euros from eight tourists over several weeks. Amsterdam court extended their pre-trial custody on Wednesday, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) announced.
The police arrested the three men, aged 47, 51, and 53, on September 27. According to the OM, they committed the robberies between August 31 and September 20.
The men targeted tourists in the vicinity of Sloterdijk station. They dressed up in dark blue clothing and posed as police officers, even going so far as to show victims a badge. They asked the victims to produce any drugs or money they had on them and then stole it, the OM said.
According to the OM, all the robberies were caught on camera. On Wednesday, the court agreed to extend the suspects’ pre-trial detention by 90 days.
