17-year-old pretends to be a police officer to steal from senior citizen in Deurne
A 17-year-old from Eindhoven was arrested on Friday in the Deurne district of Heiakker for pretending to be a police officer and allegedly trying to collect belongings from an elderly man on behalf of the local police. However, the attentive senior citizen had alerted the police shortly beforehand so that the underage fraudster could be arrested nearby.

An unknown person claiming to be a police officer called the man on Friday afternoon. In the phone call, the minor tried to convince the elderly man that he should hand over his valuables to a courier who would soon be with him. The attentive senior citizen did not trust this and managed to call a relative on another phone. This relative, in turn, alerted the police. The 17-year-old fraudster stayed on the phone the whole time.
The alleged courier appeared at the door a short time later, but when the potential victim did not open the door, he left again. Shortly afterwards, the real police arrived and, on the man's instructions, managed to arrest the fraudster nearby. The boy from Eindhoven was taken to the police station and detained for further investigation. The phones he was carrying were confiscated.
