Mother stabbed in Leimuiden dies from injuries; Husband reportedly arrested
A 31-year-old woman has died after she was stabbed on Monday, 2 September, on the Griede in Leimuiden. The suspect, a 33-year-old man, is still in the hospital. He has been arrested and will be interrogated at a later stage. The police did not reveal the extent of the man’s injuries.
Local media outlet Omroep West reported that the suspect and victim were married and have two young daughters and a son. One of the children was home at the time.
One neighbor told Omroep West about how the victim fled the crime scene into the garden and was still conscious for a time. “She was able to flee to the other side and asked for help there. Then she collapsed here in the front garden,” the neighbor said in an interview.
“She was covered in blood. When I was with her, she was breathing and moving.”
The incident happened at 8:15 a.m. The victim was taken to the hospital, where she died of her injuries. Officers have spoken to various eyewitnesses. Victim support is available for anybody who witnessed the incident.
