Dutch Grand Prix kicks off in Zandvoort
The Formula 1 weekend starts in Zandvoort on Friday. The organization expects hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend. On Friday, the Formula 1 drivers will drive two free training sessions on the circuit in the coastal town.
The access roads to Zandvoort have been closed to cars and motorcycles since Thursday. Visitors are requested to come on foot, by bike, or by public transport. In the coming days, NS will run a train to and from Zandvoort every five minutes. The NS can transport 10,000 race fans per hour. Some buses that normally stop in Haarlem will also continue to the circuit this weekend.
Race fans can enter the circuit from 8:00 a.m. on Friday. The first free training session for the F1 drivers is from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The second training session is from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will also be performances by Snollebollekes.
On Saturday, the drivers qualify, and on Sunday, the race starts at 3:00 p.m. Max Verstappen is number 1 in the standings for the world championship.
Weather
The weather on Friday will be a mix of sun, clouds, occasional showers, and a strong southwesterly wind. The wind should die down somewhat during the course of the afternoon. The maximum in Zandvoort will climb to 21 degrees, Weeronline expects.
Saturday will start out sunny, but cloud cover will quickly form in the early afternoon, bringing with it an increasing chance of showers. “There is still some uncertainty about the timing of the showers, but the heaviest showers seem destined for the late afternoon and early evening,” Weeronline said. Maximums will be around 21 degrees.
Sunday will have good race-day weather. It will be a dry mix of sunshine and clouds, with maximums around 19 degrees.
