Power outage hits thousands of Hague homes, halts tram traffic
A short but large power outage affected thousands of homes in The Hague on Friday morning. Laak and Moerwijk were among the neighborhoods affected. The outage also brought trams to a standstill, according to Omroep West.
The power went out shortly after 9:00 a.m. in postcode areas from 2521 to 2533. Nearly 3,000 households and businesses were without power during the outage, according to energy provider Stedin. About 90 minutes later, the power company reported that it was largely over.
“Technicians from Stedin continue to work on restoring power to the last customers. The cause of the outage was a defective cable,” the organization said. The issue was expected to be fully repaired by 12:45 p.m.
