Strange smell leads police to cartons of half-frozen fish, drugs at Rotterdam company
A strange chemical smell prompted the police to investigate a car cleaning company in Rotterdam last night. They found cartons of half-thawed fish and later drugs inside, Rijnmond reports.
The police raided the building on Dulderstraat in Rotterdam’s Spaanse Polder on Thursday evening. They cordoned off the street and ordered the landlord to open the building.
Inside, they found boxes and boxes of half-thawed fish. This prompted further investigation. At some point in the night, all officers came out and put on bulletproof vests, a Rijnmond reporter at the scene said.
A short time later, heavily armed officers arrived, locked down the building, and secured the street. They loaded dozens of boxes into an armored vehicle, which drove away under escort.
On Friday, the police reported that narcotics had been found. They did not specify which drugs were involved or how much.
