26th edition of Zwarte Cross festival attracts record number of visitors
The festival Zwarte Cross has had a record number of visitors this weekend. According to the organization 265,500 people came to the sold out music, theater, and motocross event in the Achterhoek. This is an increase on last year when 237,500 people came to the festival.
While looking back on the festival, the organization also praised the reaction of camping visitors to the incident where three caravans were burned on Friday evening. “This is three too many but the fact that it was only three is due to the adequate actions of the camping visitors. They pulled away other caravans and together with the emergency service and employees of the Zwarte Cross have ensured that the fire could not spread further.” The police arrested a 24-year-old man on Saturday on suspicion of arson.
The organization also looked back on some of the highlights of the festival. the flying over of four F16s above the main stage, the Commemoration of the Living, Hans Klok's show with which he "inaugurated" the new main stage and a "circlepit" during the performance of Orgel Joke where all mentioned as the highlights.
The 2024 edition was organisor Gijs Jolink’s last one. He will hand over leadership to "the new guard" in April 2025.
