Man suffers severe burns after barbecue explosion on Noorderstrand in Scheveningen
A man suffered severe burns in an ethanol accident on the beach in Scheveningen on Saturday afternoon, a spokesman for the Haaglanden Safety Region confirmed. According to NOS, the man got seriously injured when a barbecue exploded on the beach. He was taken to the Burn Center in Rotterdam, Omroep West reports.

The accident occurred at 3:15 p.m on Saturday during a Caribbean festival on the Noorderstrand in Scheveningen. When a festival employee was filling a barbecue with a flammable gel, the barbecue exploded, NOS reports.
According to a spokesperson, the man suffered severe burns after the explosion, and two other people suffered minor injuries.
A short time later, emergency services arrived, and a medical team landed on the beach with a trauma helicopter to provide additional assistance.
As it was an employee of the festival, the labor inspectorate got involved and launched an investigation to find out the cause of the accident, according to NOS.
