Police issue 6,000 fewer fines compared to 2023 during early retirement silent protest
The police issued 6,000 fewer fines compared to a year ago in the first week of protests for a permanent earlier retirement scheme, according to police union ACP.
Officers stopped issuing fines for minor misdemeanors since last week. The police unions said that they were considering not handing out fines for speeding violations starting this past Wednesday , the police unions reported.
The protests are an initiative from four police unions, ACP, ANPV, NPB, and Equipe. The National Center for Police Action has seen widespread support for the protests throughout the country and has said that they are preparing for “new and fiercer protests.”
Since 2021, police workers have been able to retire three years before the State Pension Age, but the arrangement is temporary. The unions want a permanent arrangement.
