Violent afternoon in Rotterdam area ends with boy’s stabbing in Spijkenisse
An underage boy was injured in a stabbing on Salamanderveen in Spijkenisse at around 5 p.m. on Thursday. It was the latest in a series of violent incidents that kept Rotterdam police busy during the afternoon.
“The victim was rushed to hospital,” police said. His condition was not released by 7 p.m. No arrests were immediately announced, and police officers said they were still looking for the perpetrator.
Earlier Thursday afternoon, a violent situation developed on Lavasweg in Hoogvliet. A 58-year-old man was injured in a stabbing incident there, and a 34-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the crime.
An underage boy was also arrested after the incident after he was found in possession of a firearm. The man was taken to an area hospital to treat his stab wound, police said.
Around 4 p.m., a 60-year-old man also suffered minor injuries in a stabbing on Prinsenplein in the IJsselmonde district of Rotterdam. The perpetrator was not caught in the immediate aftermath, and no arrests were announced by 7 p.m.
An hour later, shots were fired on Nieuwenoord, which is also in IJsselmonde. “A bullet was found at the scene,” police said. The shooter was not found, and no victims have come forward, authorities added.
