Code Yellow: Strong winds throughout NL today
Thursday will be stormy in the Netherlands, with strong winds and gusts up to 110 kilometers per hour, heavy showers, and here and there some thunder. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow weather warning for the entire country.
During the morning, the entire country can see gusts from 75 to 90 kilometers per hour. The wind will peak in the early afternoon, with gusts between 80 and 100 kilometers, maybe reaching 110 km/h in the north and west.
The strong wind can blow down trees and cause damage to buildings. It may also hinder traffic and outside activities, especially in coastal areas. "Follow weather reports and warnings," the KNMI warned.
Despite the stormy weather, the day will still be quite mild with maximums around 11 degrees Celsius.
The strong winds and rain will last throughout the weekend, according to the meteorological institute.
