Scottish man, 21, missing in Amsterdam since Saturday

Police in Amsterdam say a 21-year-old Scottish man who was visiting the city for a weekend visit disappeared after leaving his hotel Saturday morning. Matthew McCombe was last seen leaving the Novotel in Amsterdam Zuid at about 6:15 a.m. walking towards the RAI convention center, police told NL Times based on images captured by security cameras.

He was in town to celebrate his birthday with some friends. All of his belongings, including his phone and wallet, were left in his hotel room, police said. He has not been heard from since leaving.

The young man's father was reportedly in Amsterdam working with authorities to find his son, but there were few leads to pursue. He stands 185 centimeters tall, has a slim build, and blondish-brown hair.

McCombe was last seen wearing dark blue sneakers, navy blue jeans, and a baby blue sweatshirt with no hood, police said. On social media, a family member added that he may have been wearing Nike track pants, and the sweatshirt was made by fashion label Stone Island.

The missing man was identified by newspaper The Scottish Sun as being the grandson of football legend Billy McNeill. McNeill captained Celtic when the team won its 1967 European Cup.

Anyone who saw McCombe or knew of his whereabouts was urged to contact the police in Amsterdam.
